I love Bum as long as he stays healthy, which he has done.

If Smoak is available I'd take him over the pitchers. As much as I like Bumgarner and Hanson, they also has significant flaws that I don't really see in Smoak. Bumgarner's offspeed stuff and Hanson's bb/9 spike are concerning. And if SS is at a premium in your league I would consider Gordon Beckham too.

I'd probably rank them
Smoak
Hanson
Beckham
Bumgarner

nevermind my earlier comment about Bumgarner, for whatever reason I thought he was in A+ last year. That was Alderson

BUMGARNER VS. RAMIREZ: Nineteen-year-old Madison Bumgarner, the Giants' top pitching prospect, started Wednesday against the Dodgers and struck out Manny Ramirez on three pitches.

"He's great. He's nasty," Ramirez said. "Nineteen? Wow. That's unbelievable. He's great. Good fastball, good curveball and sneaky."

I'd go with Bumgarner. He would be great trade bait if I was in contention and a great potential long-term prospect if I fall out of contention.

I'd rank 'em
Bumgarner
Alverez
Hanson

I think they are all three pretty tightly grouped and wouldn't care too much which one I got.

When it's close, go hitting. Should really be the motto on taking prospects.
