12 team keeper league 5x5 (OBP instead of AVG) Keep 8
Trying to figure out which direction to go in my draft. I have 3 picks in the first 4 rounds. 3rd pick overall and then 2 picks in the 3rd round. I have good balance right now with my keepers. 6 excellent hitters, lots of speed and power along with 2 ace starting pitchers. Do I go after the best available bat first or stack my staff with another top SP? Any thoughts?
i like alexei, but you already have a 2B and a SS. i don't think he's eligible for 3B. i like cantu and davis too. both can play 3rd. both have power. davis is probably higher ranked.
pitchers, i like lidge and soria. good relievers, if you can get them both... solid pitching.
First Rnd I would go w/ Hitter: I have the remaining hitters ranked: Votto; Davis; Ramirez, Abreu, McLouth, etc. I think votto is going to have a monster year in that Cincy lineup and would take him first (great hitting ballpark & votto has good protection around him).
You then need to address your closing situation. Without knowing the needs of the rest of your league, hopefully one of top three closers remaining: Lidge, Rivera, Soria will be available in RNd 3. I think Zimm 3b could fall to you in you 2nd third round pick to complete your infield.
I really like your nucleus and think with the addition of Votto and one of those 3 closers will greatly improve/balance your team. Championship!
I like Votto for your U slot! Grab him immediately and thank me later. Then I would grab Davis, and then go for pitching. Soria at RP would be nice or even Dempster or Wainwright at SP. Hope this helps!
I also love Votto this year, and I always lean towards hitting over pitching with my early picks. Although I might hesitate drafting my utility posistion when an elite closer is still on the board, but I'd still probably go Votto. If not Votto, then I'd take Soria.
I like Votto and Shields.....BUT.....you need to go with Chris Davis. Third base is shallow these days and Davis is a stud. You can fill your UT later with best available without hamstringing your lineup early.
