Ubaldo Jimenez or Jonathan Sanchez???

Postby Irish » Tue Mar 31, 2009 8:50 pm

So...I'll be dropping Joey Devine soon for obvious reasons and I since I needed to add another starter anyway the decision is now. I am most interested in these two high-upside, yet scary to own, guys. Who are you guys picking to breakout this year? Both? One more than the other?

Other options (that I am not as intrigued by):

Manny Parra
Joe Saunders
Gil Meche
Wandy Rodriguez
Paul Maholm

WHIR. Thanks guys.

I'd be taking Sanchez. Like the K rate, and think that his ERA drops to the low to mid 4s this year.

thoughts on mine?

I am leaning towards Jimenez also. Strong WBC, good finish last year and the fact that he's a GB pitcher makes me worry less about Coors.

I keep hearing Wandy's name come up, but wasn't he a tad lucky last year? I heard he was due for a regression, but I've heard differing opinions on that.

Is Sanchez a flyball pitcher?

i like jimenez and sanchez. jimenez has broken something like 8 bats this spring. i think he has some control issues too though. i have sanchez on one team. i haven't picked up jimenez yet. i was waiting to see what he does in his first outing.

I'm expecting Sanchez to break out this year. Jimenez will be good too. Other than that, on your list, I like Parra.

I'd go with Jimenez, then Sanchez.

All Jimenez is missing is the control. It comes and goes, but recently, it hasn't gone as often, or for as long. And he K's just as much as Sanchez.

No love for Maholm? I think he's a solid pick.

I like Jimenez and I'd also grab Meche too. He's really underated. Provides nice K numbers, pretty similar to Sanchez and could get you 15 wins with an era under 4.

His lack of k's and most likely wins scares me, but he is definitely moving up the ladder in my eyes. Especially with his ST numbers.
