How do you like this squad?

Postby Dubjay » Wed Mar 10, 2004 6:03 pm

This is the first year of a 12 team H2H keeper league. I tried to balance some good young players w/some savvy veterans. I might have overdone the youth movement but oh well.
My Team
C-Ivan Rodriguez
1B-Jason Giambi
2B-Jeff Kent
SS-Jose Reyes
3B-Eric Hinske
OF-Magglio Ordonez
OF-Rocco Baldelli
OF-Corey Patterson
Util-Milton Bradley
Bench-David Ortiz, Ray Durham, Nick Johnson

SP-Pedro Martinez
SP-Johan Santana
RP-Mariano Rivera
RP-Joe Nathan
P-Vicente Padilla
P-Odalis Perez
P-Mike MacDougal
Bench-Bob Wickman, Brian Lawrence
Any weaknesses to shore up? What are my strengths?
Thanks guys. ;-D

Your offense looks good, might wanna try to pick up or trade for some pitching to fill your last two P spots, don't know how those guys will do.

your infield is pretty good, i think hinske will have a good season. and i think patterson will be good too so your OF is good for now. the only thing i might do is trade for one more starter. other than that i think you're fine.

Get Affeldt quick. He has GREAT stuff and if he is a starter he'll be one of the best in that division. Better get him before someone else sees him pitch.

Is Affeldt starting? I wasn't sure of that. I know that he has the talent but hasn't really harnessed it yet. His role isn't known as well. Who would I drop for him?

Your team looks pretty good, only real weakness is the bottom of your pitching staff.

I would also keep an eye out see if anyone is willing to part with a 3B, Hinske should be good, but if someone needs a 2B you have Ray Durham to trade and if you package him with Hinske you might be able to get a good upgrade.

Nice team, would agree you could use a decent starter.

Affeldt is a good choice, a lot of people around here really like him this year.

Eaton is also a nice pickup, and should be back to full health now.

i like the pitching but i think that the offense needs more power. nobody's really blowing me away on the steals aspect.

i wouldn't count on milton bradley or rocco baldelli in the outfield, but at the same time, they both have legitimate upside (bradley moreso than baldelli) so they're not terrible to have, i just think you ought to fortify your offense with some 30/100 type stuff. you can deal some starting to fill your needs, as i think your starting is ace and plentiful.
