60-day dl, retroactive to march 31.

From Rotoworld:

Athletics placed RHP Joey Devine on the 60-day disabled list, retroactive to March 31, with a right elbow injury.
To free up a 40-man roster spot, the A's have ruled out Devine for both April and May. Obviously, they're not expecting to receive good news after he's examined by Dr. James Andrews. Brad Ziegler is slated to be Oakland's lone closer with Devine out of the picture. Apr. 4 - 8:18 pm et

60-day DL is a pretty potent statement. You can only hope the surgery happens quickly and the recovery time is accounted for in those 60 days... I've stashed him on my DL but doubt he lasts that long. I wonder if Joey will even get a shot at closing if Zeigler locks in.

Sorry to hear this, Joey. Get well soon

Devine is supposed to see Andrews today. Any news yet on what was announced?

I have him and if they say surgery is required and will keep him out for the year im going to drop him (already on dl) and pick up Duch (put him on dl)

btw Any insight on Glaus would be appreciated too. thanks.

we'll know tomorrow about it, but being on the 60 day DL sure makes things seem gloomy.

Can't remember where I read it, but Andrews sent him for 2 more tests. The blurb speculated 2 things:

1 - the extra tests were simply to rule out other possible causes
2 - Andrews didn't find anything in the exam.

It also commented that this was good news.

Doesn't do anything about his 60-day DL, but might justify keeping him on (our fantasy) DL.

you know if this wasn't serious, the A's are dumb to put him on the 60 day DL.

I was hoping to find out something by Sunday, when free drops end in my keeper league.

It seemed kind of odd to put him on the 60-day before they know what's wrong with him. I guess they needed the spot on the 40-man for some reason. They couldnt even back-track the start of the stint that far because he pitched near the end of spring training once.
