i need to add another starter and i am thinking of dealing youkilis as i don't see him matching his career year last year - at least in hr/rbi. what do you think of this deal? i have a feeling jackson could come close to matching youk. roster in sig.
get: shields/c. jax give: youk/h. bell
c: martin 1b: butler 2b: s sizem ss: andrus 3b: e long mi: a escobar ci: of: kemp of: werth of: rios util: byrd bn: s rodrig, l mill, y escobar, c davis
SP: lee, f liri, j sanch, c bill, marcum, w davis, matusz, latos, s stras RP: pap, c perez, fuentes
That's a tough one - I'm not sure if your team could take the loss in power, In the power cat CJAX is not going to come close to Youk - career yr or not last yr.
ur staff is very weak......do this trade get shields.......i also believe youk although better than conor is a bit overrated this year, however, i did say that last year too......anyways...get shields u really need him more....

Because Youk had a career year. He featured in about the same amount of games the previous two seasons, but he didn't hit for a .300 average nor did he show the kind of power he did last year, having more or less been a 15 HR caliber hitter. Youkilis did all this in his age 29 season, which might get some antsy about whether or not he's truly a late bloomer or had an outlier last year. If Youk hits 100 R/RBI, 20 HR, .300 BA, I think he justifies where he's taken, but I'm thinking 5th round is the earliest he should be drafted, not 3rd/4th round.
That said, you might not get a better SP than James Shields with so much variance of opinions on Youkilis. You might be able to get Halladay/Haren/Peavy/Webb for Youk. I think your hitting is OK, but your pitching is a shambles. You can still make up ground for it with your RP (Soria, Wood, Bell) and value-wise, I like Youk/Bell still. I wouldn't be surprised if Youk and Conor Jackson wind up giving similar production, not counting R/RBI though.
