Who would you rather have manning first base in a long-term keeper league? Price Fielder or Chris Davis?

is this a serious question?

is it necessary that I bring up that prince fielder has done this before..

Year Team G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI TB BB SO SB CS OBP SLG AVG
2006 MIL 157 569 82 154 35 1 28 81 275 59 125 7 2 .347 .483 .271
2007 MIL 158 573 109 165 35 2 50 119 354 90 121 2 2 .395 .618 .288
2008 MIL 159 588 86 162 30 2 34 102 298 84 134 3 2 .372 .507 .276

i know thats tough to read.. but it's .288/.618/1.013/ 50hr/119RBI/109R

chris davis is good, but he'll never do that.. he'll probably top out at Prince's 2006/2008

Right now it is Fielder without even a question but Davis could definitely change that.

Right now its Fielder but he could easily flame out in 3-4 years if his health/fitness isn't improved.

I just ask this because of Fielder's possible health issues in the future. In a redraft league, yah, Fielder would be a better choice over Davis. Long-term keeper league, I think a lot of Fielder owners would be a little leary about his health.

Fielder should be fine into his early 30s so I still think you have to go with him for now.

I'm not sure if I would bet on Fielder being fine into his 30s. Looking at his father, the decline started well before that.

He'll have to really work extra harder than most athletes to keep in shape.

well here it is.. through the prime of prince's career (the next 4-5 years) his low end numbers will be what he did last year.. for a high end, I doubt he'll ever repeat 2007, but that just shows you what he's capable of.. i'm sure for the next five years you will be looking at something like .285/40-44 HR/100R/110 RBI. after he turns 30 it will probably go down hill pretty sharply. but you gotta remember he's only 25, so you've got a while before his health issues really affect his play..

if chris davis ever puts up a .285/40-44 HR/100R/110 RBI line, i will be very surprised. pretty sure thats outside of his potential..

Uh according to you maybe. I think Davis is perfectly capable of putting up that line. Whether he does or not is a different story.

Yoda are you trying to say that this is even a legitimate question?
