Waiver Wire Pickups to replace Sheffield

Postby roysmalley » Tue Mar 31, 2009 11:59 am

Here are some choices:

Jeremy Hermida
Daniel Murphy
Kendry Morales
Juan Rivera
Ivan Rod
Chris Getz
Juan Pierre

Don't need any specific category, just looking for the most productive who won't hurt me.

I'd go with the post-hype Hermida the way he has looked this spring. Has a ton of talent and could be a steal off the WW.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Bump. I have never owned Hermida so I don't feel that burn that other owners do. But Murphy is getting hype. More opinions?

I would jump at Choo if he were available in my league. Can't decide between Hermida and Murphy in the meantime. Or I could pick up Downs in case he closes. I worry that Sheffield won't find a home.

I'm big on Kendry Morales. I don't know if it means anything to you but he'll be 1B eligible in a week or more. Batting in the heart of a solid Angels lineup should give plenty of opportunities to drive in runs and score them himself. He's always carried a fine avg through the minors and has 20 HR potential as well. Not to mention he's having a fine spring.
