Dynasty Trade Offer: M. Gonzalez for Fontenot

Postby michaelavelli » Tue Mar 31, 2009 9:54 am

I just finished a draft in a deep (40 man roster), H2H points dynasty league (12 teams). We start all the positions + 2 MI, 2 CI, 3 OF, we start 5 SP, 4 RP, and have a 5 man minor league roster.

There was a huge run on middle infielders during the draft, and an under-valuing of pitching (IMO). I ended up drafting only 2 RP, and my depth at MI is a little shaky.

My MI:

SS: Hanley Ramirez (1.03)
2B: Mike Fontenot (18.10)
MI: Michael Young (9.03)
MI: Mark Ellis (28.10)

Bench: Erick Aybar (39.03)

There's pretty much just garbage available in FA for MI. I do not have any MI prospects.

My RP:

Brian Fuentes (16.10)
Matt Capps (19.03)
Josh Fields (SEA) (27.03)

I'm not sure if Fields will get into the majors this year, and if he does, how much he'll play, but he's the only other RP on my roster.

Anyway, I was offered Mike Gonzalez for Fontenot straight up.

Any thoughts? The value is pretty close, I'm hurting at RP, but I'll be hurting at MI too giving up Fontenot, who as of right now, is my starting 2B and probably my third best MI behind Hanley/Young.

Thanks in advance.

Given that scoring system I'd say RP aren't very valuable. I'd keep Fontenot.

Agreed. And since it's a points league, the value is close, and you don't actually 'need' SV (like you would in other formats) I would stick with the MI in a deep league. You're more likely to find a pitcher emerging at some point throughout the year than a MI.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
