Punt Willy Taveras?

Even if Willy Taveras keeps up his '08 pace, is he worth a roster spot on my team?

Util- Willy Taveras

I'm thinking about dropping Taveras for somebody like Jack Cust. The plan is to win HR/RBI/OPS most weeks. I think I could possibly stay competitive in R/AVG some of the time. SB seems like a lost cause even with Taveras there.

Depends on the type of hitters on waivers. He adds 20 stolen bases for you from the Util, which isn't bad. What other options do you have?
If the only option is Cust, I am not sure that I make the move. You have a lot of power from Dunn and speed looks like it is a more pressing issue.

If you have a bench I wouldn't drop him. He's perfect for H2H as you can use him for matchups when you need the SB and bench him when you don't think you have a shot at SB.

I'm trying to figure out if I should just dump SB's all together and focus on my strengths.
Mike Cameron, Eric Byrnes, and Fred Lewis are probably my best SB options on the wire.
FA power/OPS guys include Mike Jacobs and Jack Cust.
Other notables, Hank Blalock, Billy Butler, David DeJesus.

I'd stay put. Willy T will get you bulk of steals, but you have a lot of guys who deliver 5 to 10 steals a year who will also kick in.

Maybe I'll just pick up a stolen base guy (Cameron or Lewis) and set up a platoon with Pat Burrell.
