Yahoo question - When does the IR spot open?

Maybe this is a stupid question, but it's my first post so go figure. I picked up A-Rod, and would like to be able to put him in the IR spot on Yahoo which would open up a free spot to pick up somebody. I know I could do it last year, does anybody know when they will start allowing that? I'm guessing it's when the disabled list comes out or something, but shouldn't that already be out for a player like him that they know will be out until May?

IR starts in August, I believe. Players should be put on the DL soon, though.
