Serious RP issues, please help. WHIR

Postby gocards » Mon Mar 30, 2009 8:57 pm

I am in an 18 team league, 22 players on each team, with

3 SP
3 RP
2 P

Pitching cats are: Wins, Saves, ERA, WHIP, K, K/BB

I went into the draft looking to wait on Closers but due to a very strange draft I was shut-out, my current RPs are

Chris Perez
Roy Corcoran
Jensen Lewis

Even scouring the waiver wire I can't see this working out well for me. I am thinking of picking up Scott Downs TOR when everyone clears waivers on Thursday.

Anyone have any really deep sleepers I should keep my eyes on?

Here are the top 10 available based on owned %

R Braun CWS
C Cordero SEA
S Gallagher OAK
R Franklin STL
J Samardzija CHC
D Marte NYY
S Downs TOR
M Lowe SEA
J Zumaya DET
S Torres MIL

Thanks in advance

I guess Downs, Zumaya, and Cordero are worth watching but they are still long shots.

Keep your eye on Burton in Cincy. I'd also grab Dotel and Juan Cruz if they're available. High K guys that will step in if there's an injury. I'm in the same boat as you. 20 team league, got shut out of saves, so I have Dotel and Cruz and will scour the waiver wire once people start getting hurt/demoted.

Help w/mine?

out of these, i like gallagher, but he's gonna be the #3 starter i think, not a relief pitcher. zumaya is on 15 day DL.
do you have some hitters you could trade for a better reliever? you don't have to go all out to get a top 5 reliever, just someone like francisco or bell, who you wouldn't have to give the bank for.

Perez just got sent down to AAA and Ryan has apparently been awful in ST, with Downs next in line. There's your first move anyway...

Dotel and Cruz are both gone, I meant to pick Dotel when I accidentally picked Lewis, Dotel went next pick.

I will watch out for Burton, thnaks. :)

I will probably get Zumaya and stash him on a DL spot, I have 3. I have a very nice offense and could probably get a closer in a trade, I don't like to trade this early though.

I know I found out after I drafted him. :o I will definitely drop Perez for Zumaya, stash him on DL then pick up Downs.

I like the idea of picking up Downs... any chance Leo Nunez is available? I'd like to see you grab him as well, with Lindstrom ailing and never particularly effective.

1)Downs (Ryan is on a short leash)

2)Barton (spelling might be off, he's on the reds)

3) Nunez (Lindstrom could experience setbacks)

4) Monitor Detriot closely... I'm not sold on Lyon

5) Derrek Turnbow... huge longshot... but you never know

For every Brett Myers there's a Nate McLouth...

Obviously Ziegler and Motte are gone right? They both basically got the closer job today. Just in case you hadn't heard or they are still out there.
