Who to offer for Chris Davis

Postby oldmanbean » Mon Mar 30, 2009 4:42 pm

The guy that got Davis in our draft also erred and got Morrow, not realizing he had been banished. I offered him his choice of any CI, and one pitcher for Davis and Morrow (our league has only-trade-same-position rules). For this deal, which pitcher should I offer him to make the deal fair and enticing?? (My team in sig). I will drop Morrow and pick someone from the waiver wire to replace him in a few weeks.

Thanks!

To be honest, I had a similar problem this week too.
I seemed to have loaded my team down with some huge potential, but very unproven players.
Id run some of your questions by the experts running the live chat at Fanball in the Owners Edge section.

I should include that Davis is his backup, behind Pujols and A-Ram

I'd want Shields if I'm dealing Davis. That only trading for the same position rule is horrible and brings communism to fantasy baseball.

Morrow isn't junk, he's going to close for Seattle now.

With Morrow closing, I don't think that it is such a bad deal to have him. I don't understand why people are trying to get rid of him like he has some awful contagious disease. Gordon and Motte might be enough to get him. Depends on what he thinks of Gordon...

I don't see the trade happening if Morrow IS the closer, although he does have Lidge and Wilson already. So, it would take a starter to get him
I believe.

Thanks!

Completely agree. I played in a money league with no bench spots and position for position trading only and it was horrible. If i didnt have money invested it might have been the first league i completely abandoned. Reyes for Hanley, Johan for Lincecum, Papelbon for Mariano...how exciting. No 2 for 1's is the tipping point.

As far as the trade, If i was trading Davis id want Shields as well. Try and sell that he is wasting away on the bench to make him come down if you can

The reason is that our roster is fairly firm. 2 at each position, 4 OF and one EH, and 10 P. Now, you can technically trade other positions, but you must still have the minimum at each position. So, if I had 3 1B I could trade one to someone for a 1B or a position they had an extra of.

Davis is not going to waste away, he will be used as an EH I guess. The selling point would be to improve his rotation, but if Morrow closes, he won't be so bad off.

thanks for the reply.
