Francona is quoted on the Sons of Sam Horn site that J.D. will most likely hit 5th. Ellsbury Pedroia, Ortiz, Youk, J.D., Bay, Lowell, Lowrie, Tek.

I think bay would produce more in that slot, and based on drew's injury history, I think bay will prove it.

This is stupid. Bay should bat 3rd or 4th.

Bay will be 5th for the 300 at bats Drew misses...6th for the 300 at bats Drew logs...

Plus, Papi may get hurt again too (Hope he can avoid a complete physical breakdown ala Mo Vaughn, but at this point we can't ignore the mileage on him)...

Bay will be 29/105/.278/92 r/8 SB......give or take...he's been a bit overvalued in drafts this year but the good news is even batting sixth he doesn't have much downside given a healthy season.
Why don't they just get a house that's already painted?

Really? Bay has a lower career OBP than Ortiz, Youkilis and Drew.

But a higher SLG and OPS+ than Youk and Drew. Bay would be best suited to bat 4th behind Ortiz, then Drew and Youk. Bay should at least get a shot at 3rd because Ortiz is likely to slow down with age, and you need to have a little speed out of the 3-hole.
