I really have no idea what to make of Lee this year, and I've heard surprisingly little discussion about him. Clearly last year was a career year and expecting him to repeat that would not be reasonable, but does anyone see a complete dropoff? How does he compare to someone like Oswalt or King Felix this year?

He is getting crushed in Spring Training: 16 2/3 IP, 12.42 ERA, 37 hits allowed, 14 Ks and 2 BBs. What gives?

I'd rather have Felix/Oswalt by a pretty good margin.

Lee won't completely implode because he is a good pitcher but a return to 08 is highly unlikely.

I'd expect something like his 2005 stats and then downgrade him a tiny bit more because his arm could be a bit tired after so many innings last year(he is one guy that I am bothered a bit by the spring stats).

I'd take him more around the range of a Dempster, Lilly, Lowe type more than an Oswalt, Felix type.

I expect him to finish on the WW in most 12 team leagues this season.

He's always been good, his 07 was more of a surprise than his 08 to me. I'd expect around a 3.75 ERA 15 Wins 150 K's.

Nothing spectacular but a solid number 2 or 3.

The thing with Lee and anyone that doesn't K enough guys is they have to be dominate in ERA and WHIP or they aren't worth much. If he falls back to 3.70 ERA and 1.25 WHIP with his 140-150K then your pretty much looking at Hiroki Kuroda.

With more wins. And I'm ok with Kuroda +5 wins as my #2 or 3 pitcher. Plus, the key is potential. Kuroda is what he is. lee has the potential for briliant starts, which helps in H2h leagues. If you can get the occasional top 5 pitcher kind of start out of your #3 starter every once in a while, you're good to go in a H2H. I value lee much lower in Roto leagues.

This scenario would not surprise me either.

I agree with you here. I feel that either he reaches my projections, or he regresses and is crap. I'm avoiding him, too volatile, but if you can get a good deal on him, you shouldn't give it the cold shoulder.
