yea, unfortunately a guy like adam dunn loses some value in a league with an AVG category... which is a shame
I was thinking of picking up kaz matsui, and AI know he's looked at as a sleeper but I really don't see him doing anything besides stealing bases... I know he produced a good amount in not many games last year but... im kinda iffy on him
I do have juan pierre, but sb's is literally all he's good for, and who knows how much playing time he gets ya know? i'll have to think about it.
Choo is an FA? I'm a believer in Choo this year, I would imagine that he cannot be any worse than Swisher, so I would consider picking him up if possible. Choo has been fairly consistant between ST and the WBC. --
You could grab Hudson and ditch him in your DL spot for a little while, but other wise I like your team
Offense: Your offense if very nicely adapt to the fact that you have OBP as a category (Dunn and Giambi), I'm sure you will that category week in and week out. You have a lot power, and anytime you have Jose Reyes on your team you know steals are not going to be an issue, plus you have Juan Pierre if you need to catch up. My only concern on offense is going to be batting average. Dunn and Pena are definitely going to put a dent in your average, I would probably look to trade to a team that has a lack of power. Overall, I like your offense a lot, you don't have any glaring holes or weaknesses and should be a lock to win the majority of the categories each week.
Pitching: Your starting pitching is better than average. I think Hamels will have a good year despite the early elbow problems. You might needed to look for some help on waivers for your closers though. Capps and Cordero play for week teams, so I might look for another guy to balance that out. Other than that you have a solid staff that should do fine.
thanks man, I see your point on the closers... I dont think anyone is left on waivers and i dont rerally wanna give up any one major for a closer, if i get a shot though ill def look into it.
AVG isnt a cat in this league, tho I can see how u would think it would be... I feel like it is in most if not all.. Taking that into consideration, does that change your score at all
I think you did a great job of taking advantage of the perceived value of players who have poor AVG and good OBP. I'm a huge reyes believe this year, but I wonder if you would be better off just punting speed. You could move him and werth for perhaps a 3B upgrade (depending on how confident you are in glaus), or just for some more pitching. It's not that you're pitching is per se really all that terrible. But without hamels it would be awful. And you don't really have anyone else who will put up K's. If you decide to move reyes. Greene would be a decent enough SS if you can't get a SS back that you like. I also think pierre, swisher and polanco are droppable. I would look into seeing if travis snider, billy butler and travis hafner. see if any of them breakout and then you have some trade chips.
I think your team is solid. I agree with picking up Choo. I would probably let Swisher go. I also like Manny Parra this year IF he stays healthy (big if)
