As you can see my offense is definitely my strong suite. I'm still baffled at how I was able to get Reyes, Hamilton and Kinsler. My pitching is weak, put I believe I can get by with it. Chris Carpenter is having a great spring and I think could be back at his Cy Young form (I'm not making any predictions). Tell me what you guys think. WHIR
you're lineup is stacked... no worries there. Personally, I see two red flags in your pitching
The first one is pretty obvious and it's carpenter. I know he's having a great spring, but that can be decieving. Don't get get me wrong, he might be okay... but I can't see him as anything more than that, at least not this year. If anything, he might be a 5th or maybe a spot starter for me until i've seen he can perform.
the other is Diasuke.... Guy walked 5 batters a game last season... that is insane. Not only will he kill you on WHIP, but a guy who lets that many guys on base cannot consistantly keep an ERA under 3,its just not possible. I think he pitched well last season and was pretty lucky to boot.
That said, I do like your staff... I think scott baker is primed for a big year, and I also think randy johnson has a very respectable year in that ball park.
Besides the two pitching crits, looks really solid. good job.
In a roto league and having a superior option at SS, I don't see a need for Cristian Guzman and I would consider dropping him for a pitching boost. Like the previous post, Dice-K is indeed a WHIP killer and I would consider trading him when he's on fire during the season.
I like the offense a lot and the pitching is close ... see if you can package DiceK and Crisp for a Sabathia ... maybe it would take DiceK and Hawpe ... but even still, make sure you retain the wins if you make the trade.
Your offense is very strong. On the pitching side, you seem to gamble on some injuries concerned pitchers, namely Carpenter and R. Johnson. Try to trade some OFs for starting pitchers who can give your durability, healthy bodies.
I'll keep Dice K, if anything, the wins will be worth it as the Red Sox team is stacked. If he keeps the walks down, he's outstanding.
I'll drop Guzman as you would never sit Reyes so Guzman is expendable. Try some free agents sleeper pitchers who either are rookies with great upside or underperformed veterans.
Like the others have stated, offense is stacked... You have SB and RBI which is usually hard to achieve. One of my favorites this yr is Crisp... I think he will be wicked good this season will be gem for you. I dont think that there is anyting in your league that can go up against ur offense...
But since no one is perfect and thats the case with you team and the reason is pitching. You have 6 starters out of which 2 are injury prone in Randy and Andy. I dont expect them to last long. Dice K as other have said allows too many walks but he still is stud and i dont have anything to say how good Haren is... Pitching department you should be competitive in the wins category.. but every other one, you are going to have a tough time especially Ks... Outside of Dan Haren..no one strikes out in bunches...
Bull pen is good but you only have 3, i would have had 4 so i can plug them in when the starters aint pitching. My advice for you would be to go ahead and trade ur OF, most likely with a homer and grab a stud pitcher or RP. You have plenty of depth on OF and there is no reason to have RBIs and HR sitting on bench when you can trade them and improve immensly on the pitching..
