Need an arm...does this work? WHIR

Postby hambone1818 » Mon Mar 30, 2009 12:18 am

So I just had a draft that went really well but I've left myself a little short at SP. I love my team but I'm worried that I won't compete with others until 2 months into the year when I have all my pitching back so I'm looking to make a trade. Here are the particulars:

10 team, 5x5, h2h, keeper (capped at 7):

MY Ian Kinsler
for
HIS Dustin Pedroia and Jon Lester

I'd hate to lose Kinsler but he's proven to be very injury prone and I think I can stand to lose a little offense. Here's my current squad:

C Navarro
1B Howard
2B Kinsler
3B Miggy
SS Tejada
CI Reynolds
MI Andrus
OF Sizemore
OF Hamilton
OF Manny
OF Tavares
UTIL Ortiz
BEN Wieters
BEN J. Upton

SP Hamels
SP Wainwright
RP Soria
RP Devine
P Josh Johnson
P Danks
P Maine
BEN Cueto
DL Smoltz
DL E. Santana

What do you think? Thanks, and leave a link, I'll help in kind.

honestly, I think you're getting a decent deal, but if it were me, I wouldn't do it.

I'm just not big on Lester or Pedroia. I have no stats or anything to back up this claim, it's just my opinion.

Anyway, it's not a bad deal to do though IMO. Maybe some other people will weigh in.

You should take that deal immediately. That is a steal. Kinsler and Pedoria have almost the same value, plus getting Lester as a kicker, hit the accept button now, and hope it doesn't get vetoed.

So one person says absolutely, the other says he wouldn't do it...any other opinions? I'm leaning toward 'yes' but honestly am not sure at this point.

The other owner has already said he'd do it. I have to wait for Smoltz and Santana to go on the DL before I can pull the trigger anyway, so I'd like to get some more opinions.

I'd do it. Lester is the real deal.

Also, is A. Hill on FA? If so, keep him in mind if you need another 2B.

That is defintely fair value. If the other owner will accept, I say you do it since you need a SP.

First you need to ask yourself does this deal help him? What does he actually gain in the deal maybe some power maybe some SB, but he definitely loses something. Kinsler is a nice name to throw around in a trade, but does he have the staff to take the hit of losing Lester, that is the real question you must ask yourself. Now if he is enamored with Kinsler he may make that deal, but if I am him I probably wouldnt. Good Luck

I see what you're saying and generally I'd agree with you...the thing is, the other owner already said he'd do it, he's a Yankees fan and has 4 Red Sox on his roster...his bias is my gain I guess, cause I do agree that while he's getting the better player I'm not sure there's much of a difference between Kinsler and Pedroia.

I would make that deal, you lose very little between Pedroia and Kinsler and you get Lester to go along with it... If this offer is already on the board then log in and take it!

I absolutely love Kinsler and think he moderately outperforms Pedroia this year (if healthy). BUT I STILL DO THE DEAL...Lester more than makes up the difference!

Thoughts on mine please? Thanks
