Am I offering too much for Hanley?

12-team roto 6x6 (OPS, Holds) league. Start C,1B,2B,3B,SS,CI,MI,4-OF,2-UT,9-P,3 bench spots

My team is:
C-Martin, Wieters
1B-Fielder, Morneau, Jacobs
2B-Phillips, Matsui
3B-Ramirez
SS-Rollins
OF-Kemp, Guerrero, Ibanez, Fukudome
DH-Ortiz

SP-Vazquez, Bedard, Weaver, Wandy
MR-Okajima, Thornton, Balfour, Soriano, Nunez
CL-Lindstrom, Street

The owner I'm working with left the auction with Hanley, but not much else in the way of SB, and his roster is top-heavy with a lot of holes due to poor in-auction budget management.

He offered:
Hanley, Chris Davis and Huston Street (since I have Corpas)
for
Rollins, Aramis and Martin (his current C is Snyder)

I didn't think that was enough and countered wtih:
Hanley, Teixeira, Davis and Street
for
Rollins, Morneau, Aramis and Martin

...thinking that Teixeira-Morneau would close the gap, and he said I was being unrealistic and broke off talks to shop around.

As we can see, this is basically a 3-2 or 4-3 trade, where I am giving up Martin for a shaky RP because I think I can get by with a scrub until Wieters gets the callup.

Am I being too greedy? Not asking for enough?

With Wieters in the wings, I think the first deal is a good one. You'd be getting the best player, then giving up the next two best in Rollins and ARam, and Davis is not that far behind. Martin is better than Street, but you have a capable replacement for Martin once he gets called up, and Street guarantees you'll get the closer in Colorado which would be nice....

I don't mind the first deal at all. With the second deal, you are trying to get what I think would be the TWO best players in the deal in Tex and Hanley. Hanley is one of the top two players in fantasy baseball. You can't hope for a much better deal than HanRam, Davis, and Street for Rollins, ARam, and Martin.

Thanks, it's always good to get feedback.

You don't like Rollins as the #2 player in the deal?

What about the news that Corpas leads in Colorado?

No, I'd put Rollins as #2 in the first deal, but not in the second deal. I like Tex more than him (by a little bit).

I think the Colorado closing gig is a real mystery. Corpas may be leading, but neither has done very well this spring, if I remember right. Corpas couldn't handle being the closer from the start last year, and I'm not sure that he won't struggle again. If you got Street, you'd be guaranteed to have the closer out there when the dust settles in about a month. Which may or may not be a good thing....

I'm not 100% sure I'd do the first deal, and I don't think you're completely unreasonable with the second deal, but I wouldn't do the second deal if I were the other guy, and if you want Hanley, I think you've got a fair offer in the first deal....

Since this is Roto, I think there's a big piece of info missing - who can you pickup to Catch until June 1?

Assuming there is someone reasonable (someone like Ramon Hernandez would work for me), then I'd the make the first deal. I can see why he didn't go for the second deal; he was already taking a sizable hit in HRs/RBIs

Corpas has done well all spring, had one bad outing, then bounced back with a good one
Street was terrible early, but has been very good recently.

The other owner has Chris Snyder, who I could probably convince him throw-in, or AJP and John Baker are guys I like on waivers.

Thanks for the reality check everyone...I did not consider Rollins to the THAT far behind Hanley.
