Postby oldschool5 » Sun Mar 29, 2009 11:47 am

Got an interesting trade offer today that i need some help with...WHIR!!!

We are in a keeper league that just went to dynasty this year...i was offered Joe Mauer for J. Ellsbury....Catcher is the weakest position on my team...i will list out my line up below....As far as cost of keeping either ellsbury is at $8 and mauer at $28

My current lineup with reserves:
C Aj pierzynski
1b james loney
2b dustin pedrioa
3b Arod and andy laroche
SS yunel escobar
of jason bay
of carlos betran
of carlos quentin
DH David Ortiz
DH Jacody Ellsbury

Sp: Lackey, lester,danks,harang,volstad,Kelvim escobar DL,jeremy guthrie,Tommy hanson,micah owings,ben sheets
RP: Brad lidge, bobby jenks, mike gonzalez, justin masterson, juan cruz, hideki okajima

Reserves: Jeff franceour,edger renteria,andrew mcccuthcheon,gerald laird...

I have been offered mauer for ellsbury....what are your thoughts? I'm concerned with my C position and my SP Im also concerned with Mauer injury and long term prognosis

I think AJ is a fine C option. I wouldn't worry about him unless the deal was too good to pass up. And Mauer at $28 (assuming a $260 cap) is not a very good deal even if Mauer was perfectly healthy.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

mauer seems overpriced to me, and that seems like a great price for ellsbury...id stay with what you have, and look to get a cheaper/better catcher option if possible
