Both he and Romero were really good tonight, I just liked Romero more.

Perlick, what opposing offenses do you consider good spot start material this year? Can't really go on early results (Astros are horrible so far) so what source do you use and/or which 5-7 teams do you like the most. I am thinking Was, SD, Oak, Sea, SF, KC are still in there as some of the worst but maybe Cincy, Colorado and Houston aren't so good on the road this year.

It's a good list you have and I'd also add Pittsburgh, Minnesota vs. lefties, Baltimore, and even the Angels some of the time. The rest we'll have to see how injuries shake out, what trends develop etc. to start adding or subtracting teams from the list.

Yeah I typed Pit and then took them off. I think Baltimore won't be too bad and I agree the Angels offense could be suprisingly bad. Thanks for the reply.

What are your thoughts on
D Purcey vs OAK on Friday?
Edwin Jackson @ SEA on Saturday?

LA have a couple of hitters who normally own LHP, but I'm willing to have a gamble on Jorge De La Rosa against them @ LA. ;-D

Friday April 17th

1. Brad Penny BOS - Home vs. BAL (Jeremy Guthrie)

- I'm not sure how long Penny will stay healthy but it was a good gamble by the Red Sox. In his first start of the season Penny was decent to good with a QS that was about as average as average gets. As I learned from watching "House", Penny will be like treating MS with steroids... first you get a little better, then you get a lot worse. Look for him to keep getting better before the injury strikes or the league catches up with him.
-Prediction- W, 6.1IP. 6h, 2ER, 2BB, 3k

2. Dustin Moseley LAA - Road vs. MIN (Nick Blackburn)

- The biggest concern with Moseley is always going to be the WHIP because he has a history of consistency issues whether it's with hits or walks. In his first two starts he's faced two of the more patient teams in baseball and has 2 BB's combined to show for it. There seems to be some improvement so let's run him out there against a weak offense.
-Prediction- ND, 6IP, 8h, 3ER, 1BB, 3k

3. Livan Hernandez NYM - Home vs. MIL (Dave Bush)

- Admittedly I'm nervous about this start. On the one hand Citifield looks like it's going to suppress runs if the dimensions and early results are any indication. Plus Livan Hernandez looked competent all spring and in his first start. On the other hand, it still is Livan Hernandez. He'll be lucky to escape, and isn't exactly trustworthy, but what the hell let's live a little huh?
-Prediction- ND, 6IP, 7h, 3ER, 3BB, 3k

I'll pass. Purcey's having major control issues, and against Oakland, that's the only thing you need to succeed.

I like Jorge De La Rosa for this year but I'm not recommending anyone against the Dodgers right now.

The Angels scored the 31 runs (2nd) lowest, and the O's scored 56 runs (4th most) and only twice scoring less then 5.
Penny's first game was in LA. There was no pressure like Fenway. So Im not sure about Penny. He goes against the O's ace Guthrie, who won versus the Yankees and the Rays so far. Not to mention that the Red Sox offense scored as many runs as the A's and the Twins. And even the Padres scored more.
So Im not sure about Penny.
