what are your projections for T. Cahill?

My big question is should I start Cahill over Cueto (pitches against the Mets now instead of Pitt)?

Pitching Lannan in a bunch of leagues. I think he should do well tomorrow. ;-D

For this year, Cahill could see something like 130IP, 9 Wins 4.43 ERA, 1.38 WHIP 108k.

These are conservative estimates but generally rookie 5th starters get treated with the kid gloves. Also I like Cueto slightly more than Cahill for this next start because I know more about what Cueto can give rather than what Cahill can in his first start.

Wednesday April 8th

I'm going to take a pass on Wednesday. Chris Volstad is owned in too many leagues. Nick Adenhart is possible but to me he needs to start showing he can get over the Major League hump before I recommend him. Definitely someone to watch though. So, unless you would like to roll the dice with Walter Silva, a pitcher straight out of the Mexican League, you should pass like I did on Wednesday. Open to suggestions though.

If Todd Wellemeyer is available I would think he could make a decent spot start, but other than he and Volstad that options are pretty bleak Weds (assuming Litsch is owned too)

Thursday April 9th

1. Brett Anderson OAK - At LAA (Jered Weaver)

-At first I was going to recommend Weaver, but really it came down to which pitcher I like the most of the two. And that is Anderson by a good enough margin that I'll recommend the rookie pitcher. I find with 1st year starters they are very prone to inconsistency. You rarely see the impact rookie starter as opposed to impact rookie hitters. Anderson is a future all-star but temper your expectations in non-keeper leagues.
-Prediction - W, 6IP, 5h, 2ER, 2BB, 3k

2. Manny Parra MIL - At SFG (Matt Cain)
-Biggest problem for Parra: Pitch effeciency. Parra needs to work on using less pitchers per inning. But on the flip side there is talent here and it's someone who can be effective for the 5 innings he's in there. I'd expect he needs to learn more this year but if he starts out hot I'd pick him up on the chance he's ready to succeed.
-Prediction- ND, 5IP, 5h, 2ER, 3BB, 4k

The other possible guys:

Rick Porcello - but again rookies are hard to predict. This one has tremendous potential, but I'd rather wait one start to fully analyze

Ross Ohlendorf - You can probably do better with Brett Anderson.

Kyle Davies - a usable spot start guy, he's the best of this group for this start.

I really can't see Anderson getting the win in that game. Weaver is prone to the longball, but I think he has the stuff to contain the A's lineup. Not saying Anderson won't have good stats, I just think the win is going to go in the Angels's direction.

My 2 cents ;-D
