Help me fill my bench! WHIR!!

Postby woowoo crew » Sat Mar 28, 2009 9:23 pm

2 questions:

(1) Is it a good idea to have a back-up catcher on the bench? I have McCann as my starter and Iannetta as UTIL. However a guy in my league needs a catcher b/c he had Weiters, who has been sent back to minors. Should I offer a trade or keep Iannetta? I can plug him in as a UTIL player if he proves to be a good hitter.

My 4 bench guys are are all outfielders, so I need to make some changes there. I have Daniel Murphy, Jordan Shafer, Francoeur, and Travis Snider. I'll probably drop Schafer and Snider. I need to pick up another pitcher and an infielder for the bench.

(2) Who is my best pitcher and my best infielder from the choices below?
Pitchers: Parra, Meche, Jimenez, Carpenter, Volstad, Maholm
Infielders: Ian Stewart, Sandoval, Lowrie, Felipe Lopez, Mark Teahen, Mark Ellis

No need to keep two catchers in fantasy. I think that Carpenter has the potential to be your best pitcher if he stays healthy and Sandoval might end up being your best hitter out of those. He might also get C eligibility as well. Ian Stewart is solid as well.

Since you have McCann there is no reason to carry 2 catchers. You could try to package C.I. with someone for an upgrade.

Take a chance with Carp and get Sandoval. Sandoval might even have C elgibility in your league

I NEVER ROSTER A BACKUP CATCHER UNLESS YOU HAVE TWO STUDS, IN THIS CASE I WOULD ADVICE YOU TO TRADE HIM AWAY IF YOU CAN GET ANY TYPE OF VALUE IN RETURN

ALL THOSE PITCHERS ARE COMPARABLE, CARPENTER HAS HAS THE MOST POTENTIAL NEXT TO JIMENEZ, WHILE THE OTHERS ARE ALL DECENT OPTIONS, NONE OF THEM REALLY SHINE ABOVE THE OTHERS UNLESS CARP CAN STAY HEALTHY AND GET BACK TO HIS OLD FORM THAN HE IS THE BEST OF THE BUNCH

INFIELDERS I LIKE JED LOWRIE SANDOVAL LOPEZ AND STEWART. FLIP A COIN AND PICK ONE

Only trade Iannetta if it benefits you more than it benefits him otherwise just hang onto him.

I'd deal Ianetta for a Pitcher. If the guy who has Wieters likes Ianetta I'd go ahead and do it. Id also let go of Schafer and grab Sandoval and Id try to find a way to get Meche and Lowrie on your roster.
Thanks to soty for this sig
