anybody else think he'll probably end up in the middle, and, at least for a little while, be worth a MI spot? :-°

I think that he might do close to both of those things. I mean, he's fast.... really fast. About the only thing preventing him from stealing bases is getting pushed over in other ways (teammate getting a hit, Lowe uncorking 2 wild pitches, etc). As long as he gets ABs at the top of that order, he's going to have some value.

And he's certainly worth a MI spot right now. For the whole season? Depends on your league.

Full count now, Facio slaps at pitches with his bat like a limp wristed salamander. Foul tip, on a week swing and right into the open glove of McCann. Have a seat youngster, soon you'll be another obscure speedster unworthy of a fantasy roster spot.

So the proper sample size nowadays is pitch-by-pitch? :-B

Apparently so. I should have done an at-bat by at-bat analysis of Sizemore's 0-5 day yesterday and his terrible start hitting below the Mendoza line. He has 14 strikeouts in 38 at bats, good for over a third of his AB's. Bonifacio has struck out 5 times in 36 AB's. It's clear, soon Sizemore will just be another obscure leadoff hitter unworthy of a fantasy roster spot. I mean, there's just no way Bonifacio is going to hit over .240, and there's no way that Sizemore is not gonna strike out 250 times this year and will probably hit worse than .240, amiright? ;-7

I don't see him being the next Reyes, nor do I see him having no value at all. People are just skeptical as he seemingly came out of no where to have a fast start. I see no reason why he can't have a Figgins-esque type of season.

Minor league career
Figgins: .273/.346/.384 with 208SB in 2739AB
Bonifacio: .285/.341/.362 with 230SB in 2574AB

2009 Projection
.270 45RBI 80R 30SB

That is not a spectacular line, but for someone you got off the WW for a scrub, its not bad to fill an MI spot, or be an occasional fill in guy.

That's the problem, people make it out to look like it cost us a Dustin Pedroia to pluck him off waivers. He was free for most people that were able to snag him, and people are so ridiculously pessimistic and so hell bent on seeing this kid fail that they, in turn, fail to see his value, even in the short term. It's hot streaks like this that can carry teams week in and week out in certain categories, and Bonifacio sure as heck hasn't hurt me in a single one. I also play in a competitive enough league where there aren't any better options on the wire...so why would I complain about Boni taking up a roster spot?

You know that he lined Lowe's 2nd pitch in his first AB, then scored on an Uggla hit right?

Even the best hitters get out 65% of the time. Jesus.

Emilio has to hit .495 for at least two more months before I'll consider him for a roster spot.

We can't all play in 8 team leagues.

He runs like Carl Lewis. Unfortunately, he swings like him too.

Seriously? You think I'm serious? I play in two 12 team keeper leagues. I wish they were 14 team leagues. I own Bonifacio in both.

I can agree with that. It's just these posts comparing him to jose reyes that annoy me.

Where these supposed posts that compare him to Jose Reyes? And if they exist in this thread, how many are there? You seem to have a thorn on your side against Bonifacio, and apparently for this reason, so there must be a crazy amount of posts here that compare Bonifacio to Jose Reyes. I fail to see these posts.

Now, if you compare his SPEED to Jose Reyes, then sure, I can buy that...but I don't think anybody ever came out and straight up compared all aspects of Bonifacio's early start as the second coming of Jose Reyes, cause that's just ridiculous.

I have a thorn in my side for people that get over-excited about a player's hot start in the first two weeks of a baseball season. And for that matter, when a good player is labeled a failure for not producing in the same time frame. Good for my fantasy teams but rough on my nerves. I'm anti-hype and watching him at the plate, you can just see that he's not likely going to be a very productive player. Average at best but probably, there will be better free agent options. In my view, he'll be on ww sooner, rather than later. Once pitchers get a book on him, he's going to have julio lugo type value. When people bring up Lugo, would they ever even mention Reyes? Why not, they have similar speed. If i'm wrong about Facio and his fantasy value, I'll come back in here and appologize. I'll even let you sign my tag line for a month, whatever you want it to say...
