7th pick in a Keeper Draft.

Postby DaShiz23 » Sat Mar 28, 2009 2:15 pm

Six keepers per team, 12 team Roto.

I have Rollins, Braun, Hamilton, Adrian Gonzalez, B. Roberts, and Dunn

Do I HAVE to go SP with first two picks?

Notable non-SPs:
Davis
Phillips
Quentin
Nathan
Lidge
Ichiro
Youk
Vlad

SPs
Bills
C. Lee
Shields
Oswalt

i don't think you HAVE to go sp with the first 2 picks... i would with at least one of the picks depending on whats there tho... obviously i dont think you can pass on a guy like Phillips, Quentin or Davis... but i rank the SP like this, and say take one in the first 2 rounds tho...

Bills
Oswalt
Shields
Lee

So you have the first two picks in the draft or do you mean your first two picks in general?

Billingsley is the best starter available but do not pass on Carlos Quentin, he's a first round caliber bat and Dunn isn't a automatic keeper with 12/6. I'd still draft Brandon Phillips for the trade value also. Drafting for a trade asset isn't a wise strategy and backfires horribly when you pick an outfielder and you only start 3 because everyone has studs but elite 2B like Roberts and Phillips are hard to find in any format. You could deal Phillips for an ace better than Bills.

Quentin and Phillips must be drafted, you can justify Bills over Youk (will he do it again?), Ichiro (age and value based on speed), and Davis (has done nothing and is a long term 1B where you have Gonzalez), and Vlad (age), and Bills, Oswalt, and Shields are better choices than the closers.

I'd take Quentin, Phillips, or Chris Davis if any of them are left over before going with a starter.

Went Davis, then Oswalt. FWIW, team ended up like this:
c Pierzynski
1b Adrian Gonzalez
2b Roberts
ss Rollins
3b Davis
of Braun
of Hamilton
of Dunn
util Dye
bn justin upton
bn adam jones

sp Oswalt
sp cliff lee
rp gregg
rp corpas
p kuo
p balfour
p greinke
bn dempster
bn lowe
bn scherzer
(1450 innings limit)

Obviously I dropped the ball in regards to saves (some moron yelled out that there were a ton of closers avaiable about 6 picks before mine, 6 closers then went off the board :-t ) and with my catcher slot.

FA's include:
Thome
Hermida
Adam LaRoche
Giambi
Hafner
Francouer
Mora
Renteria
Clement
Carlos Gomez
Fred Lewis
Alexi Casilla
Lowrie
Aaron Hill
Winn
David Murphy
Rolen

Kawakami
Guthrie
