Given that Ray doesn't officially have the closer job for the Orioles, Hanrahan looks like the more logical choice, right? However, apparently Hanrahan's lost some zip, and Ray has looked so good in spring training that the nominal Os closer (Sherrill) has already said it's cool with him if Ray takes the job.
I have Hanrahan but I'm tempted to drop him for Ray. No, there's no one else I can drop instead. Should I make this move?
In addition to Hanrahan, I have Papelbon, Wilson and Bell.
This is a points league, BTW. 1250 IP max, and it favors starters - there are only three slots for RP/P, which makes me half-tempted to simply drop the fourth closer and get someone with SP/RP eligibility to get some non-save points...

i like this option alot more... Kuo comes to mind, but what SP/RP are available a little list?

Rule #1 for closers, imo, is to go with the guy with the job instead of the guy who doesn't have the job.
I like Ray as a pitcher better, but Sherrill still has the BAL closer job. Two things have to happen to make that move worthwhile--Sherrill has to lose his job, and Hanrahan has to lose his.
Hold off on that move until at least one of those things happens.
Also to consider: Hanrahan will probably be given every chance to hold that job, since WAS doesn't have a ton of great options.

After I posted, I checked: the best SP/RP options are Kuo and Reyes of CLE. The latter will start this year - what about Kuo? Is he gonna be strictly a RP or will he start this year?
I'm only looking for SP/RP eligibles who are gonna be RPs most of the time - I don't need another SP...

Good thoughts. I was/am tempted to grab Ray because closers tend to be a tight commodity in this league and I want him before anyone else gets him. However, you're right that this might be a "bird in the hand" situation...
