First Round keeper league

Postby bostux » Sat Mar 28, 2009 12:42 pm

I draft 6 in a 12 team H2H Points league and I have narrowed it down to these 6 after everyone else has been Kept:

J. Peavy
M. Holliday
L. Berkman
J. Beckett
J. Bay
N. Markakis

I have Wright, Lackey, Lirano, and Sizemore for my keepers.

Or would you go away from all of the and roll the dice on ARod?

in a keeper league don't go away from Arod, if hes there SNAG HIM... hes down for a month maybe a little more you still get 5 months out of the guy and you can keep him that would be Huge having Wright, Arod, Sizemore... btw sucks to have kept Lackey now, headed to the DL...

help me out...

Depends on what the stats are worth in your points league

Yeah, you definitely take Arod if he's there, no question.

Agreed.

Holliday and Berkman would be my next choice.

Knowing the points system would get the most accurate response but if we're talking about in a vacuum based on normal H2H 5x5 value:

Alex Rodriguez

M. Holliday

L. Berkman
N. Markakis
J. Bay

J. Peavy

J. Beckett

ARod is still head over heels above these guys, especially in a keeper league. Holliday is the best of the other six guys, he's still in his prime and while he won't be a top first rounder anymore, He still hit .300 away from Coors and you shouldn't expect his road numbers x2 to become his normal numbers, he'll still hit a little better than that.

Berkman, Markakis, and Bay are pretty equal for a keeper. I think I'd take Bay third every time though but Berkman and Markakis can be a tossup depending on team needs ie position and can you win this year or not. For you, Berkman is probably a wiser choice because you already have two young super studs anchoring your offense, I wouldn't see the problem with going after a guy who fills the position need and should put up better numbers in '09 and when only 48 guys are being kept, there will be talent thrown back in the draft every time, as demonstrated by some of the names here.

I'll take Peavy over Beckett for sure due to injury history and you have two starters already. Either guy is better than Lackey/Liriano but you still need to get a bat here if possible.

Again though, please post your points system because that could change everything. In my recent 16 team H2H points draft, I couldn't land CC, Johan, or Lincecum with the 7th pick in the draft.
