Carlos Pena

Supposedly his surgery was succesful, but he has been looking "weak" to me. Anybody have any inside info here? i was going to use my 4th pick on him as my starting 1B, but now I am unsure.

thanks. But he is only hitting .185 and no HRs yet ...still not sure I want to risk my season on him.

I did a little more research on Pena. He had abdominal surgery in January, and is probably not 100%. He's a guy I would stay away from in the draft, but could be a great buy low trade candidate later in the year. Abdominal strains affects the core of the athlete, which in terms will negatively affect his power numbers, and even the ability to swing the bat. If you think about the core of a hitter and the torque they put on their midsection while swinging, any discomfort is going to affect their swing, power avg. But as he heals throughout the year, he could be in for a monster 2nd half.

Right, but I would need someone for the first half also. Someone grabbed him before me in the 9th round, so I got Konerko and later Ishikawa. I think their full-year totals should match Penas.

Pena will get his numbers. I like the pick of Konerko. I think this guy has stuff left in him. I don't see him as much of a downgrade from Pena. I only hope he can up up the order a little:

Wise,Getz,Quentin,Thome,Dye,Konerko,AJ....
