Just had this proposed to me. I'm interested in upgrading at 3B but don't think I can afford to lose the SP.
I get Atkins Peralta
I give Scherzer Encarnation

Would definitely do this, especially if you need a SS or MI. Atkins and Peralta are both solid players whose numbers should be on par or better than Encarnacion, and there's a bumper crop of young high upside SPs like Scherzer this year, who are prone to disappoint, as the previous poster said. I would take this trade just on overall value. What does the rest of your rotation look like? Good luck!
Right now I have Young as my SS, so Peralta isn't much of an upgrade for me there if any.
My rotation is pretty thin. We start 4 SP, 3 RP, and 2 P. I have Webb, Wainwright, Bedard, Gavin Floyd, Edwin Jackson, Scherzer starting right now. Penny, Kenshin and Duchserer on the bench and not much left on the waiver wire.

You guys really think its a good idea to carry SS so close in production?? M Young and Peralta?

it sounds to me like you want someone to tell you not to do it, so i'll say don't. however, in actuality, i would have said do it. there are likely some sleeper SP candidates on the waivers for you to pick up.... just have to watch.
thanks for looking at mine. i'm not going after cabrera... don't really need him.
ok first off if you ask for help, don't counter every post that comes back... but anyways DO THIS TRADE... first off thats a huge huge win for you, Encar is soooooo inconsistant and Atkins is a far better option... 2 you say Peralta and Young are so close in production, yes but you carry 2 good options at SS, you can always trade one right back for an arm... but this is a great trade for you, i hope you weren't counting on #3/#4 starter production out of Max this year cuz that won't happen, he was rushed up and i think hes not a couple years behind where he should be...
Definitely take it. I'd keep Peralta afterward and trade Michael Young for a nice arm. Also, with only 9 slots for pitchers, I'd be surprised if you had no sleepers/breakout candidates on your WW, unless this is like a 15+ team league. Try to appeal to someone lacking in both SS/3B if possible since Young will be gaining 3B eligibility this season.
