Gerald Laird...

Postby bazzy_51 » Fri Mar 27, 2009 8:12 pm

So i haven't heard much on here bout this guy, know hes not tops of the top or anything, but in all of my leagues hes still a free agent and havent seen this guy going in hardly any drafts... hes not flashy, but has shown in very limited time that he can get it done when needed, now he steps into the starting gig in D-Town into a very nice looking lineup... darkhorse? no one seems to give him a glance is this a guy that could come back out of no where to turn in a decent season? (not talking mccann, martin, vmart, soto like but something that could be better then say Navarro, Pierzynski, Napoli Suzuki, Hernandez?)... could we expect somethin along the line of 60/15/60/.280ish?

Great thanks to soto for the sweet sig!...

The big thing with Laird is that he's good WHEN he's healthy. His limited time has been because he hasn't been healthy. I had him last year, but had to drop him because I already had someone on the DL. He's a good replacement, but I wouldn't pick him up just because he's out there. Pick up RP, that's what I would do and am doing. Remember that others are probably not going to pick up a catcher just because they think that he may be good. If he picks up the pace during the season though pick him up and either trade him or your current catcher.
