The main point is that he's blaming the US and Europe on the financial woes being experienced by everyone else. And he's justified in that.
Everyone in the U.S. and Europe are white with blue eyes?
If what he meant is what you said, then he should have said that instead of what he said.

I'd ask how you got the internet under that rock you're living under.
Personally I wouldn't consider you either one of the two options you provided, but someone who cares more about race/color might be able to answer it.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....

Exactly. His administration has been scrambling ever since he said that trying to argue it was only a metaphor. It's not the first time Lula says something inappropriate like this, not to mention the timing wasn't exactly great either with the British Prime Minister visiting the country.

Inappropriate, yes. But I'm sure a lot of people in his country agree with him. And there is some truth to it. I'm guessing a extremely high percentage of the people most responsible for the financial crisis are indeed white (though not necessarily blue-eyed).

He's still not as bad as John Wiley Price and that moron is local to me. Remember the Black Hole/White Hole thread? Ugh!

Well an extremely high percentage of the people in Nigeria are black, so it is ok or right to say that black people are responsible for the Nigerian bank spam email scandal? Of course it would not be ok or right to say that. Same difference here.

It's a convenient cop out to blame the problem on white people when the reality is that the people who caused this problem have a wide variety of less-than-savory traits that are probably too subtle to allow for easy discernment.

Would it make you feel better if he used the words "greedy Americans" instead?
