Make this trade offer?

Postby lbblue » Fri Mar 27, 2009 12:38 pm

Simple question without going posting both teams' rosters or going into too much explanation. I'm thinking about making this trade offer

Give:
Adrian Gonzalez
Pat Burrell

Receive:
Lastings Milledge
Scott Baker

Thing is, I'd be coming up short from a pure value-based standpoint, but I also think the move would improve my team. I can give more info if necessary. Thoughts?

No. AGonz is the only top-50 player in the deal; the others are well over 100.

12 team H2H (non-keeper) Drafted #12 (serpentine)

1B – A. Gonzalez
2B – C. Utley
SS – J Rollins
3B – C. Davis (also 1B eligible)
OF – C. Crawford
OF – A. Dunn (will be 1B eligible soon too)
OF – A. Ethier
C – R. Hernandez
UT – J. Votto (1B)

Bench:
OF – P. Burrell
OF – D. Span
3B – E. Encarnacion
2B – R. Weeks

Pitching:
SP – C. Billingsley
SP – Z. Greinke
SP – E. Volquez
SP – M. Scherzer
SP – G. Meche
RP – C. Marmol
RP – H. Bell
RP – K. Gregg

I understand it's giving up value and you're probably right that it's way too much. That's why I usually post for feedback when I know I'm considering something like this.

The main reasons I'd look to make this offer is because I can play Votto at 1B and Milledge at UTIL. Outside of JRoll and Crawford I have no team speed in the starting lineup. Granted, those guys are 40+ SB guys, but if they have a bad week there is no one to pick up the slack.

I have no true ace on my pitching staff and Billingsley is gimpy already. Baker would be another solid SP to add to my options. I'll add a SP from the wire as soon as the Cubs' closer situation shakes out and I can drop whoever is not the closer.

I think he would make the trade if you offered Dunn or Votto. Is it a keeper? If it's a keeper I would try to trade Dunn or Votto
