Catchers went early. Waited on Weiters, but he went in the 11th rd - I had him pegged for a 12-13th rd selection.
Anyway, 10 team keeper league, H2H 7x7 w/ OPS and H as the extra categories.
I currently own Shoppach because of his large OPS. Should I drop him for another C?
D. Navarro AJ Pierzynski J. Clement J. Saltalamacchia C. Snyder Teagarden K. Suzuki
Teagarden had the best OPS and AVG last year, but will that continue and will he get enough AB's? Navarro is coming off a great year last year. Should I grab him, or roll the dice on the 20+ HR Shoppach?
my team: C: Shoppach 1B: Pujols 2B: B. Roberts 3B: A. Ramirez SS: T. Tulo OF: A. Soriano OF: M. Ordonez OF: J. Bruce UTIL: Prince Fielder (1B) BN: J. Upton (OF), C. Maybin (OF)
Pitching: Liriano, AJ Burnett, Gallardo, Wang, Scherzer, Price, Kershaw, Maine, Carmona, Bedard Hoffman, Mike Gonzalez.
my sleeper pick is Kurt Suzuki, batted .279 7 hrs in 500+ at bats, looks to go .280 15 hrs this season plus he has noone behind him to take away playing time, Landon Powell(?), Navarro is the only one who will get for sure starting time as well but hits a boring .260 7 hrs
AJ's HRs have been going down steadily year after year. I like Kurt Suzuki as well, and (people will probably call me crazy for this one) I'm betting Jesus Flores is available in your league & I like him as a sleeper as well.
Thanks for all the replies guys. It seems that I have a vote for AJ, vote for Shopp and a vote for Suzuki.
Never heard of Jesus Flores, and yes he's available. His #'s don't seem impressive though, what's the projection here? Low avg, low # of SB, low ops and low HR total.
But you got Shoppach/V Mart/Garko and Hafner, not to mention LaPorta when he gets called up, all fighting with the C/1B/DH spots so I just don'r see Shppach craking 400 At Bats, Flores is intriguing but numbers aren't there yet. I still think Suzuki will be the sleeper pick
Ramón Hernández was just dropped in this league, do any of you expect a good season from him? I've heard a lot of people are pretty high on a bounce back season for him.
he wil givse some pop about 15hrs in about 450 at bats and hit abou .250-.260, I still stand by my Kurt Suzuki, with no real back up he could plate 500+ at bats again, like last season, plus hit .280 15 hrs he did hit .279 7 hrs in first full season.
