A posting on rotoworld today that announced that according to Girardi Jeter will bat leadoff and Damon #2 gave the analysis that perhaps Gardner has won the starting CF job as Girardi can then bat L-R-L at the 9-1-2 spots... also mentioned that the Yankees are actively shopping Melky.

Does anyone buy into this? And does anyone think Gardner immediately becomes fantasy relevant with that SPEED?

New York Newsday reports that Derek Jeter will bat leadoff for the Yankees this season, with Johnny Damon hitting second.

Jeter has hit atop the order plenty during his career, but has been primarily a No. 2 hitter, including hitting there in 134 of his 149 starts last season. Manager Joe Girardi explained the switch by saying that he's been impressed with how Damon has looked in the No. 2 hole this spring. Newsday speculates that the changes signal that Brett Gardner will beat out Melky Cabrera for the center field job, because by moving Jeter to leadoff the Yankees would avoid having back-to-back lefties in Gardner and Damon.

I think if you are in a really deep league he could be valuable for some cheap sb's.
but if its a mixed league 12 teamer, probably not

Gardner has value in fantasy as long as cheap steals have value. How much depends on your league settings.

He probably has the most value in H2H with daily lineup changes where you spot start him for steals. If your team is solid with steals you are probably better off using that roster spot on somebody else.
