How would you draft with these league settings?

Postby go9ers » Thu Mar 26, 2009 4:51 pm

Here is the scoring for the league:

Hitting: Doubles (2B) 2 Triples (3B) 3
Home Runs (HR) 4 Singles (1B) 1
Walks (BB) 1 Runs Scored (R) 1
Runs Batted In (RBI) 1 Stolen Bases (SB) 2

Pitching: Innings Pitched (IP) 1 Earned Runs (ER) -1
Strikeouts (K) 1 Wins (W) 10
Losses (L) -5 Saves (SV) 7

The lineups are set once a week...it seems like good pitchers on bad teams (more likely to get a loss) are penalized in the league. In addition, batting average, WHIP, ERA are NOT factors - does this make a large difference in how most of the sites are projecting players? I would think power hitters (regardless of strikeout %) would be favored with this scoring system.

Thanks for your help!

I see power hitters, looking at a combined multiple base stat and the top relief pitchers get a boost in this league with this scoring.

Help me too? viewtopic.php?f=26&t=374029&p=2999864#p2999864

Thanks for the help! I am drafting at the 10 spot in a 10 team league...does a guy like Ryan Howard get a boost in my league to warrant a pick at the elbow where I'm at? He has good power stats but is dinged in standard projections (plus Mr. Roto "hates" him) because of lower batting avg. I would obviously like to get him the next time I pick (late 3rd), but I think he's long gone by then. Thanks for your help!

If Howard is available at #10, grab him. The rankings get lowered on him because of Ks. If your league doesn't penalize for whiffs, then he will be golden.
