Too Hitting Heavy? - Keeper - WHIR

Postby plapre3 » Thu Mar 26, 2009 3:37 pm

After keepers have been set, our draft is in about a week. I'm worried that I'm too hitting heavy at the moment. What do you all think? If I make a move for pitching, whom should I trade and whom should I target?

I'm crossing my fingers that Iannetta falls to me, otherwise I might try and deal for a catcher with Doumit and similar guys already off the board. Atkins seemed like an obvious choice to drop, but guys like Zimmerman and Figgins are already gone.

My team thus far:
C
1B Adrian Gonzalez
2B
SS Michael Young
3B Garret Atkins
OF Carlos Beltran
OF Corey Hart
OF Adam Dunn
UT
SP (Start 4) Johan Santana, Chris Young
RP (Start 3) Joe Nathan, Joakim Soria

I also have an extra 15th round pick and 18th round pick.

As for minor leaguers, I keep 5 for free:
Colby Rasmus (OF-Stl) Matt LaPorta (1B-Cle), Neftali Feliz (SP-Tex), Josh Vitters (3B-ChiNL), Michael Bowden (SP-Bos)

6x6 weekly HtH 14 team roto keeper (between 5 and 10 keepers (no time limits or costs), losing a draft pick for each after 5)
Offensive Categories: BA, OPS, RBI, HR, SB and Runs Scored.
Pitching Categories: W, S, ERA, K/IP, Quality Starts minus Losses, and WHIP
Offensive Starters: C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, 0F, 0F, 0F, UTIL
Pitching Starters: SP, SP, SP, SP, SP, RP, RP, RP
Bench: 10 spots
Minors: 5 "free" keepers. These players if are eligible to be kept without the loss of a draft pick and in addition to the max of 10.

Thank you all in advance and as always, leave a link.

I dont think you are too Heavy in the Hitting department. Rather have the BATS then the ARMS in Fantasy Sports. Bats are more consistent, and tend not to break down as easy as pitchers. Who are sooooo fragile. I like the 70% HITTING to 30% PITCHING comparison sometimes 80% - 20%. Pitchers come out of the wood work every time......during the season. Especially Closers.

Nice set of minor leaguers, Especially Feliz, he is a KEEPER!!! ;-D

As for Pitchers to look for in the draft, assuming they are not kept by other owners.

SP - J.Johnson (FLA)
SP - P.Maholm (PIT)
SP - J.Zimmerman (WAS)
SP - I.Snell (PIT)
SP - C.Buchholz (BOS)
SP - N.Adenhardt (LAA)
SP - T.Hanson (ATL)
SP - U.Jimenez (COL)
SP - M.Scherzer (ARZ)
SP - D.Purcey (TOR)
SP - J.Litsch (TOR)
SP - J.Reyes (CLE)
SP - K.Slowey (MIN)
SP - N.Blackburn (MIN)

just to name a few,

Good Luck ;-D

I like Buccofans list of SPs too.

Otherwise, in filling your other needs here are some sleepers who are most likely available:
C: Pudge(comeback year batting 2nd after Matsui and before Berkman in hit friendly Houston), Wieters(if not rookie kept?)
2B: Hill, Schumaker(will be 2B eligable after 5 games in Yahoo)
3B: Chris Davis (if he isn't a keeper for other team), Wiggington(late pick)
OF: Dan Murphy, K Morales
SP: Kyle Davies
