We are 10 team 6x6 Keeper League with Hits and Holds being the added stats. We keep 4.
I have a guy who has Arod and hates him. Personally. Didn't want to draft him last year, but felt he should because he had the first pick. Has been dying to get rid of him and now that he is hurt and kind of nuts, he wants to deal him for Cole Hamels.
I think this is a fair trade considering they are about equally ranked for this year. And Arods status is up in the air. Obviously down the line. Arod will be worth more. But I am really not in favor of Vetoing trades. The guy giving up Arod is not stupid. He knows what he is doing. he likes the value he is getting in Hamels. And doesn't think Arod is going to be great this year even when he comes back.
What do you think?
Thanks so much. Will respond to your issues too. -Tom
Not a trade I would make particularly in a keeper but not so outrageous that I would veto.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
The hits category helps ARod and the holds category hurts Hamels. So Arod is producing in 6 cats, while Hamels is only helping in 4. In a redraft 5x5, they're about equal, but in this league I would think Arod has a lot more value.
I agree. With both of you. I don't find it to be an outrageous trade either. Tim has Chipper Jones to play third in place of Arod, but is in real need of pitching.
I am going to institute a league vote instead, because I don't want this headache
I feel your pain man...My FFB league veto'd every trade I tried to make at the end of the season, and I lost because of it. They were veto'ing simply because they didnt want my team to get any stronger.
Sounds like you have a similar situation. I def. would not veto that trade, or any trade unless it looks like collusion.
Thats why I ran the FBB league, no league veto, it comes to me for final say if 4 people veto it, and I like trading.
I had an article that talked about legit reasons for vetoing and tried to educate them on why the veto is there and that they were abusing it, but it didnt help. I cant find that article though.
There is no collusion. I am not either of the parties involved. All things considered. Ithought it was good. Knowing just how much the one guy wanted to move Arod. Thats real life. Sometimes you eat a little bit for the benefit. I'm sure the Yankees would trade Arod straight up for Cole Hamels right about now. If the salaries were traded straight up too.

Think long and hard before you do this. Putting it up to a league-wide vote is almost always a bad idea, because it has the potential to kill trade activity in your league.
