Has there been any time frame dicussed by the Rays other than "later in the season"?

I would bet you that if you drop him, he'll be scooped up the same day he's available.

Keep him on your roster. If need be drop another player for another SP.

I haven't heard but my instinct (probably worthless ) says sooner rather than later. Plus in a keeper there are the long term benefits to consider that probably outweigh any loss you get from him being in the minors this season however long it is.
