Need Input, Please! Who for 1st Pick???

Postby RASportsnut » Thu Mar 26, 2009 12:29 pm

I joined an existing 10 man league (keeper, growing into a dynasty) H2H Mixed League. I kept no players from inherited team (none that good). Three other teams also kept noone. The remaining teams kept 2 players each (max this year). Here are the players already kept: H. Ramirez, Wright, Howard, Reyes, Utley, Sabathia, Teixeira, Pujols, Soriano, Roberts, Dice K, and D. Price.

As it happens, I have the first draft pick, with a snake draft. As it works out, I will have picks 1, 7 and 8 (three other teams drafting if first two rounds), so my question is, who do I pick? I'm leaning towards Sizemore, but usually I wouldn't pick an outfielder first, but this is a unique draft for me with so many already off the board.

Others that I'm thinking: A Rod, Longoria, Rollins, either Kinsler or Pedroia, J. Santana, or Lincecum. I would only chose one of the pitchers if they fell to the 2nd or third picks.

I'd appreciate any responses, and will gladly reciprocate. Our draft is Sunday evening the 29th.

I'd also like your reasons for your choice if you'd share.

Thanks

in order

Sizemore (30/30 player)
Kinsler (20/30 .300 BA, could have more power)
Santana (best Pitcher available)
Lincecum (close to Johan, but pitchers under 30 seem to have arm injuries and fatigue mor often)
Longoria (soon to be a 30-40 homer hitter decent avg)
Pedroia (good avg, some pop, some speed)
Rollins (good for runs, triples and Sb, decent avg)
A-Roid (not because I hate him, but remember Albert Belle's hip injury, it forced him to retire early)

help with mine?

i would put rollins ahead of pedroia, but otherwise looks pretty good. definitely go sizemore first.

Oops, forgot the 1B available: Cabrera, Morneau, Berkman, etc. (All but Tex, Howard and Pujols).

Cabrera and Sizemore both available, puzzling but good for you. There are some other strange keepers there but what fool/s would hold onto Roberts and DiceK :-t.

There are two obvious choices for your first pick Sizemore or Cabrera and you cant go wrong with either selection. With your 2nd and 3rd picks I would hope one or two of Kinsler, Rollins or ARod fall to you dont see it happening but you can hope. If only one falls and Lincecum (Santana if Lincecum has been selected) is available I would select him since this is a dynasty. If all have been taken I would feel more comfortable seeing the list of whos available before making other recommendations.

IMO, this is a no-brainer, take Cabrera.

He is a beast. 25 years old and already has 175 career HR's with a .308 avg. He is a 1st round pick anywhere, especially since this is a keeper!

Then:
Sizemore
Santana (best P in baseball)
Kinsler (5 cat player at 2B)
Lincecum (see Santana)
Longoria (has hit at every level, stud)
Rollins (a little to inconsistent but still a great potential 5 cat guy)
A-Rod (injury and roid concerns)

Pedroia (Dont forget, it wasnt long ago that people were wondering if this little dude could even last in the big leagues. Not sold on him yet)

Give me a little help on mine? Thanks bud!

I say Cabrera. He's a stud and will be for a while to come. After that, I'd really try to get Lincecum. He will feast on the Padres, DBacks and Rockies. And he can only play the Dodgers maybe 4 times at most.
