so i guess trumps earlier reports that masterson would start off by spot starting?

also, if clay gets the ball on April 12th, does he keep it when penny gets healthy? or does he get sent back down to AAA

Seems likely Penny gets that spot. Its better for Buchholz to get regular work while the 5th starter is not used a lot anyway. Then a month in you see how things are going with penny, smoltz and the rest of the staff to determine the best course of action.

Sidenote: its funny how many people are talking about that miggy boston thing like it was their idea. All I can say is look up Miggy's contract before you start talking him about being a bargain for anything.

I think Boston needs to look at catching, Varitek is at the end of the line. Make sense to go after Salty, Teagarden or Ramirez in Texas, but not at the expense of Buchholz
