H2H 5x5 league. I thought I was locked in at Pujols at 2 but now I am not so sure. 3b is so thin this year that in Mocks I dont like what my options are after round 3. I have seen that If you dont go A-RAM in the 2nd 3rd round turn your 3B options fall off a cliff.
Can you guys make an arguement for Wright ahead of Pujols at 2?
I wouldn't lose any sleep over someone picking Wright #2, though I think 3B is fine for depth. It is mediocre depth but there is still depth there in the later rounds.
25 points in batting average, 5 home runs vs 5 runs and 10 steals...
It's not like Wright isn't a stone cold lead pipe lock if he's healthy. I wouldn't call you crazy at all...especially when you consider in a 12 team league pick #23 is going to be a primetime spot to take one of the final elite 1B off the board (one of Fielder, Berkman, and Morneau is USUALLY there..and more than likely Morneau).
Why don't they just get a house that's already painted?
I wouldn't call it crazy. There are three elite third basemen, two solid options behind and then a bunch of question marks after that. There are a ton of first basemen that can contribute.
That is a good point about the 1b options at 23. I am still undecided. I am going to try and find some more info on Wright and Pujols. Thanks for the help.
I don't think it's crazy at all. Many more good options at 1B than at 3rd. Wright is beginning his prime plus he adds SBs, always good to have. By the time you pick again, you may not like what's left at 3B.
I'm in the same position as you with the #2 pick. I'm going to choose Pujols because he simply is the best player in the game. That average with those homers, RBI, and runs is hard to match. I'm worried about 3rd base depth as well but you could always aquire one later via trade, waiver wire, etc. I definitely understand your struggle but you can still figure it out. Is Wright and Morneau really that mutch better then Pujols and Zimmerman? If you went that route, you wouldn't have to spend your 2nd or 3rd round choice on a guy as boring as Morneau. JMO Good luck!

Man this is a tough spot. My draft is tommorrow and I hope that the top spot puts me out of my misery and take Pujols one so I have the slam dunk with Hanley at 2. I was thinking about Zimmerman later on but He keeps getting these fluky injuries and never really produces.
