04/05/09 2:20 AM ET ANAHEIM -- Following their final preseason game, a 5-4 win over the Padres on Saturday night, the Angels firmed up their 25-man roster for Opening Day on Monday, sending a collection of disappointed players to the Pacific Coast League. Optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake were catchers Bobby Wilson and Ryan Budde, infielders Brandon Wood, Sean Rodriguez and Matt Brown and outfielder Reggie Willits.
Mike Napoli, who caught Jered Weaver in a camp game on Saturday in Tempe, Ariz., will be on the 25-man roster for Opening Day on Monday against the Athletics at Angel Stadium.
Napoli, who caught all nine innings while Weaver went 6 1/3 innings in preparation for his Thursday start against the A's, has shown enough while catching three of the past four days to satisfy the Angels' medical staff that he's ready to play. Napoli is expected to share the catching job again with Jeff Mathis.
With John Lackey, Ervin Santana and Kelvim Escobar all on the 15-day disabled list, the Angels will carry 12 pitchers: starters Joe Saunders, Weaver, Dustin Moseley, Nick Adenhart and Shane Loux, along with relievers Brian Fuentes, Scot Shields, Jose Arredondo, Darren Oliver, Justin Speier, Kevin Jepsen and Jason Bulger.

As expected. Lets just hope he can come off the DL on time and be healthy. Really don't want to deal with this all season.

From Rotoworld (today)
John Lackey (forearm) has progressed to 120 feet in his long-toss program, according to manager Mike Scioscia. Scioscia said the Angels' ace "feels great." The team is hoping to have him back in the rotation sometime next month.
