Through many trades last year I have 27 picks this year, most are mid to late round, the Pujols owner tried to load up for a run last year and struck out so he is missing a good number of picks. Right now we have a gentleman's agreement to make the following trade on draft night (we're in a dead period until draft night or else we'd do it now)
I give:
2009 1st
2009 3rd
2009 5th
2009 7th
I get:
Pujols
2010 5th
2010 10th
My keepers:
1B/3B Miguel Cabrera (Det)
2B/SS/OF Alexi Ramirez (CWS)
SS Hanley Ramirez (Fla)
OF Ryan Braun (Mil)
Obviously after the deal I'll have a very solid core of hitters, my concern though is I'll spend all year chasing pitching... then again, there is no guarantee that a quality pitcher would be available to me at any of the picks I'm dealing. The 1st becomes Pujols, I have double picks in rounds 3, 5, and 7 so all I'm losing is depth but I can't shake the feeling that I may be ignoring pitching too much... that and I've spent all off-season getting used to the idea of having 9 extra players to scout until our 1st waiver period.
Guess I'm just looking to make sure punting pitching is the right idea.... well, not so much punting but deciding to pick up Albert instead of pitching in round one.
Sorry if this is a waste of time, I just wanted to get some feedback... and not from my leaguemates
TIA
