Should I add Kevin Gregg?? WHIR!

Postby TheGhost » Wed Mar 25, 2009 1:39 pm

Just wondering if I should add Kevin Gregg and if so, who should I drop? I'm thinking I only need two closers. Or should I have three? Yahoo is reporting that they think Gregg will be named closer for the Cubs this week. Thanks!

I'd maybe drop Pelfrey to pick up Gregg because, much to my disbelief, it looks like they're seriously considering making Gregg the closer. All the Cubs' fans I know, including myself, were certain Marmol would close. So certain that I recently drafted Marmol. I still think he wins the job but it's far from certain. I dropped my most replaceable SP and picked Gregg up yesterday.

If you only need two closers you shouldn't add him. Qualls and Bell have much more secure holds on the closer spot than Gregg.

If you feel like you may need some extra saves I'd drop Pelfrey for him. I don't believe in him - relied on an unreasistic BABIP last year and still allowed 209 hits. He does have a good defense behind him, but with the division he pitches in and his inablitity to strike hitters out I think he's a little iffy.

That said, I'd prefer him over Gregg. I only suggest that if you feel like you need a third closer.

I'd drop Pelfrey for Gregg.

unless you are planning to punt saves 2 closers is not enough unless its Nathan and K-Rod
Good team btw

I agree, Pelfrey is expendable.
