I'm in an 8-team Points League on Yahoo with some buddies. The guy who has Hamilton knows I want him but is this trade worth it or am I ripping myself off too badly. Power is the king in this league meaning HR's and RBI's are the way to go. He is offering me Hamilton for my Liriano, Vazquez and Lidge. Thanks for the help

Do this trade immediately. You can always find pitching on the wire especially saves.

This point system seems to really bump the value of pitchers compared to standard leagues. Just glancing it over it appears that this is far too much to pay for Hamilton. It would depend on what's available pitching-wise on the WW but my hunch is it wouldn't be enough to offset the value lost.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
You have a few different ways to go in obtaining Josh Hamilton. First of all you if you lost Liriano and Vazquez that would obviously severely weaken your staff. Here are a few alternative trade ideas you could try: 1.) Holliday for Hamilton 2.) Teixeira for Hamilton (use Adrian Gonzalez or Chris Davis as your starting 1st baseman)
These are just a few alternative ideas that might help you land Hamilton, as I mentioned I would try and avoid trading starting pitchers (plus a closer,) if at all possible.
This would be a good trade IMO. Good pitching can be had from the FA pool. Great hitting not so easy to find.
Liriano is no sure thing, neither is Lidge. In my opinion pitching lines fluctuate much more then hitting lines from year to year, so I always gravitate to hitting first then pitching.
I didn't see who was on the FA list, you have some nice options #1 on my list of possible pickups would be Eric Bedard (monitor him closely and be ready to pick him up ASAP.) Also keep a close eye on: Price, Danks, Carpenter, and Cueto.
This trade would hurt you SP more than your RP, but looking FA's I say do it and Grab Bedard and Capps, but Holliday maybe the best option as well, since hi value will dimish immensle this season projected .280-.290 28 hrs 10 sbs in Oakland, might go up slightly if he gets traded to a hitters park, but will never post Colorado numbers again. You may have to package Holliday and Nolasco, but if you do that option, still grab Bedard
