Rich Harden is on my team...will doom follow?

Postby WhorldPhuckinGChampions » Tue Mar 24, 2009 4:10 pm

After finally nursing my 2nd degree Rich Harden burns back to health, I decided in a moment of delusion at some point in my draft to jump back in to the fire and am now kind of regretting it.

Expanded Roto format 10 x 10 (on pitching side we added K/9, K/BB, Holds, TB, CG), 10 Team league with 22 man rosters:

Here is my current staff, which I am more than a little worried about due to youth and health...what can I focus on to help them? I may be able to add Javier Vazquez via trade. On a scale of 1 - 10; is this a solid 7 staff?

If healthy I give it an 8 or 9. That's a big "IF" though. I would attempt to add Vazquez. It couldn't hurt to add depth. Harden is one hell of a pitcher when healthy but he throws too violently to keep it up for 200 plus innings. I think all of your guys have good upside but the odds of all of them hitting their best form this season are slim. You seem to have taken a lot of risks. Vazquez couldn't hurt, he's fairly reliable health-wise but had a dissapponting ERA last year.

I say possibly a 8 I like Harden but I also want probably 2 pitchers like Johan, CC, Lincecum, Halladay, Webb, Hare or Peavy to counteract, you don't have any so all you can do is cross fingers, what type of offense do you have?

I waited and waited on SPs, so I have a lot of firepower with the sticks:

C: Sandoval
1B: Votto
2B: Utley
SS: Reyes
3B: A. Ramirez
OF: Beltran
OF: Markakis
OF: McLouth
Util: Dunn
Util: D. Lee

Well depending on who is on your Bench , i would use D.Lee and pick up a starter like Shields or Lackey

I have some bats on bench that can make up for Lee, I think. Here are my SP targets:

Vazquez

Liriano
Chamberlin
Volquez

All have risks, but I think a straight up trade for Lee is a possibility for each.

If you pitching stays healthy, you have a monster of a team. Honestly I feel like the Cubs are babying Harden enough that he's going to pitch the whole season, and he's going to have wicked numbers. I'd stick with him. Maybe trade Lee for another arm if you feel like you need it. Dope offense though.
