Bizarre 8 team 8x8 H2H draft, how did I do?

Postby Padres Fan » Tue Mar 24, 2009 1:29 pm

Yahoo 8 team 8x8 H2H
I had 3rd Pick

C-Russell Martin 5
1B-Joey Votto 16
2B-Brandon Phillips 3
3B-David Wright 1
SS-Michael Young 11
IF-Chris Davis 10
OF-Matt Kemp 4
OF-Curtis Granderson 6
OF-Lastings Milledge 15
UTIL-Adam Dunn 8
UTIL-Jayson Werth 22
UTIL-Carlos Pena 14
BN-Pablo Sandoval 19
BN-Mike Aviles 17
BN-Pat Burrell 23
BN-Denard Span 25

SP-Johan Santana 2
SP-Roy Halladay 7
SP-John Lackey 12
SP-Joe Nathan 9
SP-Joakim Soria 13
P-Matt Garza 18
P-Kevin Slowey 20
P-Mike Gonzalez 21
BN-Jered Weaver 24

SCORING
offense:AVG,RUNS,HITS,2B,3B,HR,RBI,SB

pitching:WINS,CG,SHO,SV,K,ERA,WHIP,IP

I know I punted a bit on pitching, and 3 players could kill my average, I tried to go in with a power speed combo. 6 possibly 8 20+stolen base threats and 5-7 30+ homer threats. I also think my SP staff should hols their own.

(lol hold, staff)

leave a link and I will reply

Rock Solid pitching, and a good mix of 5 tool players and "Big Bats"

I'd go for Dunn for Pence type trades...you don't need HRs at the expense of Avg, Hits, singles, and doubles...

Ah, you gotta love the 8 team leagues! I would assume just about every team is loaded. Yours certainly is.

You seem to think that you slightly punted with pitching but you have J. Santana, Halladay, and Lackey anchoring your rotation with some decent depth guys behind them. Should be fine.

With this kind of a roster it's pretty much nitpicking to find fault with it. I understand the slight concern with AVG. You don't have much in the way of .300 hitters and have guys like Dunn and Davis who could pull you down a bit (I have a similar situation). With the speed/power combo guys you have, though, I think you'll easily be able to overcome a slight deficiency in AVG.

I wish I could find something else to suggest. I don't love Michael Young as your SS but unless you try to deal for one of the 3 first round studs at the position you're probably not going to be able to hugely upgrade.

Mine?

UPDATE: I was offered a trademy Matt Garza and Jayson Werth for CC Sabathia, that would make my staff wicked lol,

Any answers on who I should shop with Burrell, Dunn or Pena? Votto is my Current 1b so Dunn/Pena are on my UTIL.

Garza and Werth for CC? Wow. That's a gift.

Dunn has the highest trade value, I'd think, if someone thinks their lineup lacks power and are looking for a HR guy. He is OF eligible too, which may be a reason for you to keep him (but also a reason someone might want him). You can afford to part with him but I'd try other options first.

I think maybe if there is someone who is lacking a bit at 1B you might be able to sell them on Pena. He's probably the guy I'd try to move because I can't imagine Burell has much value in an 8 team league.

What are you going to shop for anyway?

Great team....I have not posted my 8 team league team but I'll let ya see it to see what u think.
I would shop Dunn...Lots of usefulness for someone who needs 35 HRs and it will help remove your avg issue..THe CC trade is a joke...but hey....you'll be the one laughing.....There should be guys better than Werth and Garza on the waiver lines....Good solid team....You might trade some offensive depth for another middle tier closer...

Anyway....I picked out of the 6 spot and here is my team

1. (6) Miguel Cabrera
2. (11) Grady Sizemore
3. (22) Tim Lincecum
4. (27) Manny Ramírez
5. (38) Álex Rodríguez
6. (43) Aramis Ramírez
7. (54) Dan Haren
8. (59) Curtis Granderson
9. (70) David Ortiz
10. (75) Álex Ríos
11. (86) Stephen Drew
12. (91) James Shields
13. (102) Jonathan Broxton
14. (107) Matt Capps
15. (118) Javier Vázquez
16. (123) Derrek Lee
17. (134) Zack Greinke
18. (139) Andre Ethier
19. (150) Chris Iannetta
20. (155) Kelly Johnson

A high Average OF, maybe Shin-Soo Choo (yes he was drafted), someone who will get hits and some doubles but not neccesarily alot of power speed

and I have Nathan Soria and Gonzalez, and starters are more valuable in this league than closers, all closers might do is get me saves and help slightly with WHIP and ERA

Your team looks good I like your 1st 15 picks and some steal afterwards

I think my OF is balanced since they score triples in my league as well all 3 are 5 tool players

Looks good overall to me. Your pitching staff is pretty loaded, and you have excellent speed. I would agree with trying to shop Dunn, he has power but also lacks in many other categories. I think your team could improve if you make the right move with him.
