My Outfield is Sick!

Postby SlayeratCP » Tue Mar 24, 2009 10:35 am

Yahoo League 10 team, H2H, 5x5. I had pick 9. My team:

1. (9) Josh Hamilton
2. (12) Chase Utley
3. (29) Carlos Lee
4. (32) Matt Holliday
5. (49) Jake Peavy
6. (52) Troy Tulowitzki
7. (69) Francisco Liriano
8. (72) Chris Davis
9. (89) Joe Mauer
10. (92) Félix Hernández
11. (109) Matt Wieters
12. (112) Chone Figgins
13. (129) Matt Cain
14. (132) Mike Aviles
15. (149) Justin Verlander
16. (152) Josh Johnson
17. (169) José López
18. (172) Chad Qualls
19. (189) Frank Francisco
20. (192) Shin-Soo Choo
21. (209) Joey Devine

I have a few questions. First off, how does it look as an overall team and bench? Secondly, another owner wants Utley and I proposed this trade:

Utley, Cain, and Mauer for D. Wright, Kazmir, and Iannetta

His team:

1. (3) David Wright
2. (18) Tim Lincecum
3. (23) Manny Ramírez
4. (38) Justin Morneau
5. (43) David Ortiz
6. (58) Shane Victorino
7. (63) Brad Lidge
8. (78) Daisuke Matsuzaka
9. (83) Derek Jeter
10. (98) Corey Hart
11. (103) Scott Kazmir
12. (118) Chris Iannetta
13. (123) Francisco Cordero
14. (138) Mark DeRosa
15. (143) Raúl Ibañez
16. (158) Brett Myers
17. (163) Miguel Tejada
18. (178) Brandon Morrow
19. (183) Troy Percival
20. (198) Mike Lowell
21. (203) Lastings Milledge

Does this seem fair or what would be a better offer for both sides? He offered me a ridiculous Utley,C. Lee, and C. Davis for Wright, DeRosa, and Milledge so I'm hoping he will bite on this one.

I like your team a lot..Of course it is a 10 team legue...Ha ha you should see my 8 team league roster....

Anyway, your outfield is ridiculous.... I like Davis at 8, don't like your SP too much though....that trade might help you..Wright is a beast...but I'm not that big on Kaz...he just throws too many pitches...but ya....huge upside there...RP looks great...Good squad though

not bad RP for getting them at the end..nice value there. i actually like your SPs. I don't like Mauer though, it sounds like he's going to have a long injury plagued season. Maybe you knew that already. Thats way you drafted Weiters, but i'm sure you know being from BAL that he's starting the season in AAA. As for the trade proposal i like it. I think Lopez is more the capable of filling in at 2b, and Wright is a huge upgrade over Davis (he brings more speed to the table too). I'm not too fond of Kazmir, but i think you have to include him and Cain to get the deal done

thanks for helping with mine

Your OF should indeed be pretty "sick". I scoffed at some of the mocks where I've seen Holliday go between #10 - #17 but at #32 he should be a steal.

Could end up being a great move with your C because you can probably trade Mauer when Weiters comes up. But...Mauer is hurt and you might not have a C who is playing on opening day. That or Mauer could be dogged by injuries all year.

Good looking stable of SP. RP is a bit iffy but could pan out. Pretty nice bench. Well done overall. Looking at drafts like this makes me realize how big a difference there is between 10 team leagues and 12 team leagues!

Mine?

I like the Wright side of the offer and believe you can back fill Utley with Lopez and be ok as having Wright will make up for it all.

I like your team as is. I wouldn't make the trade b/c I like Mauer over Ianneta. I know he has played well at WBC, but you cannot argue with Mauer's consistency. You have enough big bats in the OF to cover for Mauer's lack of power. I think the only place you will struggle is saves... I'm sure you know that already. I'm sorry that I can't think of anything else to say, but a good team is a good team, and there are not many negatives I can say about your team.

Nice team, I would do that trade. You're upgrading players from Utley to Wright and upgrading pitchers from Cain to Kazmir. Mauer to Ianetta is not a big enough drop to offset those gains.

Thanks for the help on mine. That is a FINE TEAM!!! ;-D great balance, and as for your "pitching" problem. I wouldn't worry. You can easily find a replacement, of the wire in a 10 team league. Especially Closers.

Really like that deal too, If its on the table go for it.

Hell, I might even call the Iannetta from Mauer an upgrade. Mauer is only good if he's actually going to play!

Good team. That trade will definitely help you upgrade your team. Holliday that late is a steal. Obviously his numbers will go down but he should be off the board by the late 2nd. For him to last the entire 3rd round is silly. As long as you avoid injuries you should take this league down.
