Buddies- Last year of a 10 team 5X5 keeper league.
Been negotiating with one of my good pals in our league and he insists that I am lowballing him and offering terrible trades. He and have always finished in the top3 since the inception of our great league. The last offer was Greinke and Dye for Liriano. Is this that absurd?
I have seen many projections for Greinke and Liriano to be pretty similar. Then you throw in Dye. He could start Dye instead of Willy Taveras. Dye last year had .290 34 HR 100 R 100 RBI.... He is in a contract year as well. He's not a flashy pick, he just gets the job done! But, there is always the issue of Zack's mental capacity and of him having another attack..... There is also Liriano's injury and inconsistency concerns considering at one point last year he was getting LIT UP in AAA ball. Although he did recover nicely in the end of the year. I dont know, I think he gets the better end of the deal, but this deal is far from being "not even a real offer." Am I correct here?
He goes "propose that deal to the cafe and see if even a single person would do it." Is this guy just one of those delusional GM's who overvalues his players?
An example of one of his "fair deals" is Slowey Pence Marshall and Derek Lowe for Ibanez Nolasco and Greinke. Is that much better? I think its worse!!!!! First of all, I dont think I get enough value back and second of all I wouldnt do it because I would dont want to drop someone like Motte or Jordan Zimmerman. Thanks buds.
Not absurd by any means. I would actually hate to give up so much for Liriano. He is sick nasty, but the injury concerns loom. Dye is about the most underrated player in fantasy, IMO. I see the side netting Dye and Grienke getting the better value here, but it does depend a little bit as to whom would need to be dropped, but not much.
I'm not buying Liriano; too much uncertaintly after his comeback from arm injury was less than spectacular. I'd rather have Greinke. For the second deal I like the side with Nolasco and Greinke. Nolasco is a fantasy ace and Greinke is close to being one.
I've gotta go the other way on this one, sorry Nails. Liriano may end the season in the Top Ten overall SP and Greinke has just too many questions for my liking. Even both at their best I take Fran. Dye is a nice addition, I own him as well. Butthe rest of the lineups are a consideration. For the first trade, its about even.
The Pence and Slowey deal is lopsided towards that owner. Pence is better than Ibanez, Slowey is better than Nolasco (but almost neck n neck) and Marshall + Lowe aren't as good as Greinke but you make up for it in overall talent. I like the deal for him better on that one. Good luck!
I like the Pence side more than the Ibanez side. Ibanez is old, Pence can get even better. Slowey can get you better numbers than Nolsco and those other guys are actually good. Greinke is the wild card. Pull the trigger if you can do that one. But they are pretty close, IMHO.

Liriano finished really good last year but that is really nothing, Dye usually follows a good year with a Mediocre one and is up there in age, and last year was a good one, Grienke is hard to read he basically sta out 2006 because he didnt know if he wanted to play baseball anymore, and is Bi Polar, and tends to be reclusive in the clubhouse so who knows when he will just up and leave.
