J. Mauer for Brandon Phillips?

Postby roundBallJef » Mon Mar 23, 2009 3:42 pm

We are at the end of making pre-draft trades to establish keepers. Right now, I only have Polanco at 2nd. I have in reserve R. Doumit and C. Iannetta at catcher.

I was thinking of offering my J. Mauer and B. Fuentes ( who would not be one of my keepers, yes, we can trade non-keepers until we declare, a rule I don't like) for his Brandon Phillips. Is that a good deal for me, and if so, which of the two other catchers would you keep?

Thanks, WHIR

I def. Like this deal. Mauer is fantastic at a thin position but so is brandon phillips (just with a bit less injury concern) I would keep Doumit after that trade ;-D

Phillips is top 3 round material. Mauer more like late 4th 5th round.

if ya can:

If you can get someone to agree to that go for it.

Man if that guy is dumb enough to do it you got to.

Iannetta is going to have a good year if not better with more AB's. Mauer is hurt who knows whats going to happen with him this season, Phillips is 20-20 guy last year and 30-30 the year before. Christ this is a no brainer.

Iannetta and Doumit are fine options at catcher, while Brandon Phillips is a huge upgrade over Polanco.

I would absolutely make this trade if someone is interested

Yes with other good options at catcher that is a steal for you.

Who are your other keepers? Iannetta represents good value. If you have a strong set of other keepers and no other options you could keep em both.
